Why are some genealogy websites poorly constructed?

 I have been creating websites for many different people and businesses over the years, but my main love is genealogy and finding ways to present the fruits of my research. I have also created sites for others who want to get their family history on the web.

I have been using a PC to record my research since the early 90's and made my 1st genealogy site in 1994. Since then I have sought out ways to make my genealogy data accessible and easy to navigate and in a way that has content not just names and dates.

My passion for genealogy and family history was how I got into web design. I wanted my sites to be better than those I had found on the web and after about 8 years my main site was listed 3 times in a UK Genealogy PC magazine as a "Top UK Genealogy Site" 2nd only to the World wide known Ancestry co uk.

As someone who strives for good quality design and content I an still surprised that there are still sites that are difficult to navigate, have no real content or are just link farms.

Writing on this Hub is a new project for me but I feel it will allow me to impart my experience and be an aid to others who may be planning to put their family tree on the internet or who would like to but don't know how. I hope to be able to add new ideas and guides in these pages over the coming weeks.
